Back to work...

I've just returned back to another school year and have lots of new faces to put with new names. It is important for the children to get into the routine of listening to others and concentrating in class again after their long summer break. It has been complete chaos right now and have lots to do in the next few weeks as we have started choreographing for our annual pantomime in January, and we are performing Cinderella this year at the Winter Garden Theatre, Margate. Our aim is to complete all the dances by half term so we can then clean them in the few weeks leading up to the Christmas holiday. I know this is the longest term but it always feels the shortest, it's only 80 days until Christmas!

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Hello, I’m Gemma Walker, I am 21 years of age, brunette, brown eyed and 5’7”. I believe the type of person I am is hard working, easy going as I can get on with most people, and have the ability to work well in a team but also have the drive to work independently too. I enjoy travelling to new places and having lots of new opportunities.

I have graduated from Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, I have spent the last three years training long days in professional dance at a private dance college up in Hertfordshire. I achieved a 3 year Trinity Certificate Level 6.

I am now currently at home in St. Margaret’s, working for a local dance school called Dean Academy of Performing Art, known as DAPA. I work at various nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools during the day and after school hours at my local dance school based in Deal. I teach all ages and all genres of dance such as ballet, tap, modern, Irish, Street, and a Musical Theatre course. We perform many shows through-out the year, such as a Pantomime, Graduation Show, Irish Show, a Ballet performance which is a 2 week workshop, so we as teachers at DAPA have many opportunities to choreograph.

My aim in life, as a career I would like some professional work as a dancer preferable traveling or touring elsewhere in the world but I would like to end up teaching at a school or college later in life.
